Dignified Live-In Spinal Injury Care

If you are a case manager, medical professional or family member looking for care for someone living with a long-term spinal injury, live in care is an excellent option.

spinal cord injury (SCI) has life changing consequences. Together with the physical issues, there’s the hidden impact on mental health and this requires equal attention for both the person being cared for and for their family. Our live in carers are dedicated, experienced and professional.

Eximius have nurse-led complex care teams who work closely with other health professionals. For example, discharge teams, occupational therapists, neurologists and specialist consultants. Together, they ensure that all equipment and person-centred care planning is in place before the client returns home.

Live in care makes an immense difference to our clients’ quality of  life. It allows the highest level of function and independence possible. Clients can remain safely in their own home, surrounded by their families and belongings, living as normal a life as possible.

Specialist Needs covered by our Live-in Carers

Our complex care teams are here to offer a compassionate and person-centred care service. They are trained to the highest level. We provide internal nurse led training, as well as utilising the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) for specific additional training.

You can sign up to download our Spinal Injuries Support Guide here, which gives you more information on our spinal injury support services, to read in your own time.

Our training includes:

  • Autonomic dysreflexia
  • Bowel management
  • Continence care (including catheter care)
  • Emotional and mental health changes
  • Medication administration
  • Paraplegia and tetraplegia
  • PEG tube or nasogastric feeding
  • Pain management
  • Respiratory care (including tracheostomy, ventilation and suctioning)
  • Tissue viability

We create a bespoke care plan based on the needs of the individual, both physical and emotional. We then identify a suitable carer, or a team of carers if required for hoisting and night care. We can also arrange for nearby housing for the care team, to ensure that the client can protect their privacy and family space, while still receiving safe and exceptional support.
